About Awaken Church

Awaken Church is a Spirit-Filled church plant located in Cartersville, GA (roughly 45 miles north of Atlanta). The church is less than two years old and has experienced tremendous growth over the last six months. Having started in an elementary school in January 2022 and moved into a lease space for a grand opening in January of 2023, Awaken has been growing in stages and adding a new member to our team is a part of that growth. We currently have two services every Sunday and average 150 in attendance weekly. We are a diverse church with modern ministry and worship dynamics.

Job Description

Spiritually

The Worship Director has the pulse behind the real-time movement during the service and has the ability to flow wherever the worship leader or pastor wants to go. This is not just a musical skill but a spiritual one. When the Worship Director is in one accord with the lead pastor, there is no gap in where the church is headed during that time of worship. The Worship Director is responsible for ensuring that the spiritual sound of our church is just as solid and smooth as the musical sound.

Relationally

The Worship Director is the bands source of all chords, notes and setlist during the week. This relationship is one that requires for it not only to be systematic and administrative but also fun and interactive. Maintaining a solid friendship with the band is critical for this role. They will be following you on Sunday and looking to you for guidance, so it would be smart to stay on their good side.

Logistically

The Worship Director is required to host a monthly meeting with all the leaders, and lead pastor to collaborate on a master set list according to the vision and upcoming sermon series. The worship leader will then work directly with the MD on the week they are scheduled to lead to iron out keys, transitions and dynamics for that Sunday. This one-on-one meeting is a REQUIREMENT and MUST take place BEFORE Thursday night practice.

Additional Information

The Worship Director will be responsible for all Planning Center administration/scheduling with musicians and vocalists. During practice, A designated Vocalist will help carry the load to lead the vocals and the worship director will make sure the band is ready.

The Worship Director will also be responsible for anything audio outside of the worship set. The weekly audio podcast and/or youtube uploads.
